Reflection on the Route Map and Cost
Overall, my route map for the trip is almost same as the one which I thought to be before except the few changes. Firstly, I had to change some of my accommodation locations depending upon where I was going to do the activities and visit some attractions. This also affected the cost as well. I forgot to add the accommodation charges to stay in Goa in guesstimates, but then I realize that I needed a hotel to stay there for couple of nights. Then another thing was I initially planned to come back to Delhi by air but then I decided to use train to have that experience of beautiful and scenic route which includes tunnels, rivers, jungles, high bridges etc. Furthermore, I stayed one less night in Goa as the train took more than one day to get to Delhi. Because of that, I had to book a hotel in Delhi and dropped the plan to book hotel in Goa for that night.
If I compare the overall cost with guesstimates, it was a good guess. I spent only $76 CAD more than what I thought in the initial plan (excluding the insurance plan which I bought). Also, I did not spend lots on shopping in different cities. Instead of that, I choose Goa to buy whatever I needed, as it is considered as one of the best spot to buy souvenirs. During our 15-day escorted tour, we have visited a plenty of places like forts, Taj Mahal, heritage enriched sculptures, lakes, cultural shows, beaches etc. Then, we forwarded our steps towards some active experiences like cycling tour and yoga classes. The cost of these activities were unexpectedly very low like couple of dollars only. We enjoyed this trip and one important thing I learnt was to bargain at shops and also for taxi lumpsum fares from one destination to the other.
Reflection on the Revenue Earned
The revenue I earned for this trip $615.49 CAD per person or $1230.98 CAD for two travelers. I was working on this tour planning from last three months. If I split, it is roughly $200 CAD per person per month. To be honest, it seems to me that the revenue earned was too low. I would like to have at least $1000 per person. Also, if I would be working for some travel agency, then I would have earned even lesser than that.
The great thing is that I learnt a lot from this and I gained plenty of information and skills as well on how to research and where to find all the relevant information. I also do not want to forget the fact that this was my first time to do the booking. I will be more knowledgeable and experienced when I will be doing the booking next time. I have better insight on all the activities-provider companies and various transportation modes to choose from. This will saves me a lots of time. Also, I would have more number of clients in future and there will be multiples files I would be handling at the same time. This will result in more and more revenue. Finally, I would like to say that I enjoyed a lot during the whole time of doing this tour planning.
